STORAGE MACHINES

A PowerVault Storage is a data storage device that can be connected to an existing or new storage area network (SAN). The Dell PowerVault has a large memory and high speed. No matter how fast or complex applications are, they do not overwhelm the PowerVault Storage. The data throughput rate is extremely high, as is data security. The Dell PowerVault has an internal encryption system, which prevents unauthorized access. In particular, the data will be useless if someone steals the hard drive themselves and tries to access the data without the necessary access codes. The encryption system can also reliably delete the data, i.e. it cannot be restored. However, security is also increased for access. Redundant cable harnesses make it possible to access the necessary data, even if individual connections have failed. Thanks to a program for load balancing, all cables are normally used equally. Due to the redundant and modular design, components can be exchanged during operation. The system does not have to be shut down and then restarted. A built-in power management ensures low energy consumption, which is constantly adapted to the requirements of ongoing operations. The software within the Dell PowerVault sees the entire system as a unit regardless of the number of hard drives used. In addition to reduced energy consumption, this also results in increased fault tolerance. Together with the interchangeability of the modules and other features, the Dell PowerVault brings low operating costs in this way.
